River resonances, 2026. Soundwalk for the Lassonde Art Trail, Biidaasige Park, Toronto.
River Resonances by Treva Legassie is a soundwalk that invites participants to collectively and individually attune to the acoustic environment of Biidaasige Park. Participants are gifted a series of listening scores on postcards, composed for the Lassonde Art Trail, that together illustrate the meandering trajectory of the newly constructed river mouth flowing through the park. Paying attention through other sensory registers, apart from the visual, we tend to the many layers of the river’s history from marshy wetland to industrial wasteland to the revitalized park of our present moment. After the walk, participants were invited to mail their postcards to someone they love walking with, seeding new encounters with soundwalking and flowing like water outward from our collective experience at Biidaasige Park.
